A Playful Backyard Goodbye

  I love photographing families at home, where they are most comfortable.  This backyard family photography session in Alexandria was especially tender because this family was about to move.  I am so happy I was able to help freeze time in a place that holds so many memories for them.  While taking pictures of a toddler and a baby can be tricky, we had a blast playing in their yard.  Being a former teacher, I am pretty sensitive to kids moods.  In my family sessions, we take a few formal pictures until we can sense that the kiddos are over it and then we play! Often times I pull out my bag of tricks so that the babes think that we are just playing, but I am still getting family pictures.  The fact that we were in a familiar space for this session put everyone at ease.  This family made playing in the backyard look good!
